Oboedire policies

Over our collective years as Professionals we have researched and devoured a huge number of example frameworks from our peers and fellow Event Space holders on the topics of Consent,  Accountability and Community Conduct.  We believe Oboedire Academy deserves a unique framework built on data, and with heavy consideration. 

As Oboedire grows, we are committed to  maintaining a living tenets* that evolves alongside the community itself. This allows us to learn from real experiences, identify genuine needs, and develop policies that are practical and completely tailored specifically to Oboedire rather than borrowed from elsewhere.

Our goal is to establish our own comprehensive consent, accountability, and governance models within the next 12–18 months. During this formative beginning, we ask all patrons to uphold and turn to Oboedire’s Code of Conduct and ethical standards, recognising that we are building this community collaboratively with care, integrity, and a commitment to continual and genuine improvement.

All participants are expected to:
-Actively contribute to the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others.
-Communicate honestly and with detail for clarity. 
-Respect privacy and confidentiality of actions, words and experiences of others
-Follow facilitator instructions during activities. NB – Open Communication from all participants is mandatory and non negotiable for all Oboedire Events
-Accept that different experiences and perspectives can coexist. Curiosity First.
-Help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Oboedire does not tolerate harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, retaliation or deliberate breaches of consent in any way including but not limited to verbally, written, in person, via social media or other forms of communication that it is not consented to by all parties

Education comes before ego.
We value curiosity over certainty, accountability over blame and evidence over misinformation.
No one is expected to know everything. Everyone is expected to continue learning.
Titles, experience or status do not place anyone above these standards.
Healthy communities flourish when individuals prioritise collective wellbeing over personal recognition.
Prestige shall never outweigh ethics.

Oboedire is an educational and social organisation.
We do not provide medical, psychological, legal or relationship counselling.
We do not guarantee competency, compatibility or the safety of private relationships formed outside Academy activities.
Participants remain responsible for their own decisions, relationships and actions.

Consent is active, informed, specific, ongoing and can be withdrawn at any time.
Participation in demonstrations, discussions or practical activities is always voluntary and to the level of each individual’s capacity and self assessment.
No one should ever feel pressured to participate.
A respectful “no” will always be accepted without question.
No dynamic, title or relationship removes the responsibility to obtain, maintain and respect consent.

OA utilizes and teaches several frameworks to allow autonomy and personal responsibility on activity specific requirements. More Information coming soon

All who participate in an Oboedire Academy or community related event or interactions are expected to uphold these standards.
If a boundary is blurry, a moment or feeling not clear we ask that the individual/s –
-acknowledge it;
-listen respectfully;
-take responsibility where appropriate;
-work towards repair;
-learn from the experience.
Accountability is part of learning. Accountability is part of growth and development. Accountability is uncomfortable. Oboedire asks you to allow community to be prioritised over ego.

If something goes wrong, please notify us as soon as it is safe and possible and commence a report form (below) for privacy.
Concerns about safety, consent, discrimination, misconduct or inappropriate behaviour will be taken seriously and managed fairly.
Where appropriate, Oboedire will seek education, discussion and repair.
Where behaviour places people at risk or seriously breaches our standards, protective action may include removal from activities or termination of membership.
Our priority is always the safety, dignity and wellbeing of our community.

Oboedire is committed to curating learning environments that are welcoming, inclusive and accessible.
Participants are encouraged to be transparent about any and all personal requirements and access needs before attending so that reasonable adjustments can be explored where possible.
Everyone learns differently. Asking for what you need is welcomed and respected. We pride ourselves on being able to offer modifications, alterations, and adjustments across our education, advice and venues.

Oboedire is also committed to curating a culture that is accessible to people with different access needs where possible.
Rapid Antigen Testing for viral illnesses is encouraged before attending shared spaces, and is
wearing masks during, in order to include high risk community members, People with chronic illnesses or Immunosuppressed/Immunocompromised folk.
In addition we supply Biocides, PPE and other precautionary measures during events. Our main venue is accessible via standard wheelchair ( including bathroom facilities). We have further details on ticketing platforms.
